This document is a working draft written by the Vig product team. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and must be before Vig launches to the public. Nothing on this page is a legal assurance until that review is complete.

1. What Vig is

Vig is a marketplace where one person puts a price on getting something done and another person does it. The person who posts is the Poster. The person who does the work is the Runner. The posting is a Vig. The money on it is the Payoff. The flat platform fee is $2 per Vig.

By creating an account or using Vig you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Prohibited Vigs policy, the Payments policy and the Disputes policy. If you do not agree, do not use Vig.

2. Accounts and roles

  • Every account can be both a Poster and a Runner. There is no separate sign-up for either role.
  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement where you live.
  • You may hold one account. Your name, username and profile information must be accurate. Vig may display your profile, completion count, success rate and ratings publicly as trust signals.
  • You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Sign in is by magic link or Google; keep your email account secure.
  • You may not run your own Vig, and you may not coordinate with another account to move money to yourself.

3. Vigs

A Vig has a public description that anyone can read, optional public instructions, a Payoff, a proof requirement, an optional deadline, and one or more spots. A Vig may also have private details that only a Runner the Poster has approved can see.

  • The Poster is responsible for the content of their Vig, including that it is lawful, safe, accurately described and possible to complete.
  • The Poster decides whether Runners must be approved before taking the Vig. Vigs with private details always require approval.
  • A Runner who takes a Vig agrees to attempt it in good faith, follow the instructions, and submit proof before the deadline.
  • Vig, the company, does not perform, supervise or guarantee any Vig posted on it. Vig is a marketplace and payment facilitator, not a party to the work.
  • Every Vig passes through moderation before it goes live. Vig staff may flag, pause, remove or reject a Vig at any time.

4. Payoff funding and the platform fee

When a Poster publishes a Vig they fund the full amount up front: Payoff × spots + the platform fee + processing. The platform fee is a flat fee of $2.00 per Vig, paid by the Poster; processing is the card processor’s fee, shown as its own line before the Poster confirms. The Runner is never charged a fee and always receives 100% of the Payoff.

  • Funds are held by Vig until the Poster approves proof, the Vig expires or is cancelled, or Vig Review issues a decision.
  • The platform fee and the processing line are only kept when at least one spot on the Vig is completed and paid. If nothing is completed, both are returned with the Payoff.
  • Minimum and maximum Payoffs, and limits on spots, are shown when you post and may change.
  • Full detail, including the simulated-payments notice for the MVP period, is in the Payments policy.

5. Proof and approval

  • The Runner submits proof in the form the Vig asks for: photo, video, screenshot, text, a link or a completed checklist. Proof may include a location and capture time when the Runner allows it.
  • Vig runs automated checks on every proof and shows the Poster a verification score and any flags. These are advisory. The Poster makes the decision.
  • When the Poster approves proof, the Payoff is released to the Runner immediately and the decision is final for that spot.
  • If the Poster believes the proof does not meet the Vig, they may Request Review instead of approving. This opens a Vig Review and the funds stay held.
  • Posters must review proof promptly. Vig may set a default response window after which unresolved proof is escalated to Vig Review. The exact window is a placeholder pending review.

6. Vig Review

Vig Review is how disagreements about proof are settled. A Vig reviewer looks at the Vig, the instructions, the proof, the automated verification results and any notes from both sides, then decides one of three outcomes: pay the Runner, refund the Poster for that spot, or cancel the Vig and return unused funds.

You agree that a Vig Review decision is binding on both parties for the funds on that Vig, subject to any appeal process described in the Disputes policy.

7. Expiration, cancellation and refunds

  • If a Vig's deadline passes with no active Runner, the Vig expires. Unused Payoff is returned to the Poster. If no spot was ever completed, the platform fee is returned too.
  • If a Runner's deadline passes before proof is submitted, that assignment expires, the spot reopens and the Runner's success rate is affected.
  • A Poster may cancel a Vig while no Runner is actively working on it. Unused funds are returned.
  • Vig may cancel or remove a Vig for a policy violation, safety concern, suspected fraud or a Vig Review outcome. Funds not already paid out are returned to the Poster.
  • An expired Vig can be reposted. Reposting re-funds the remaining spots.

8. Account status

Every account has a status. Vig may change it at any time based on conduct on the platform.

  • active — normal use.
  • flagged — under observation. Vigs and proof may receive additional review.
  • suspended — temporarily unable to post or take Vigs. Funds already earned remain yours; funds already posted follow the normal Vig rules.
  • banned — permanently removed from Vig. Open Vigs are cancelled and unused funds returned.

Notice of a suspension or ban is sent in-app. Contact for status questions is a placeholder: support@vig.link.

9. Prohibited use

You may not post, take or attempt to complete any Vig listed in the Prohibited Vigs policy. That list includes violence, harassment, stalking, theft, illegal activity, sexual services, drugs, weapons, identity theft, fraud, privacy invasion, impersonation, deceptive reviews, platform manipulation and dangerous activity.

You also may not interfere with Vig itself: no scraping at scale, no automated accounts, no attempts to bypass moderation, no manipulation of ratings or success rates, and no attempts to move a Vig’s payment off the platform.

10. Simulated payments during the MVP period

During the current MVP period, money on Vig is simulated. Funding, Payoffs and refunds are recorded in Vig’s ledger exactly as they will be when real payments are enabled, but no real money is charged, held or paid out. Balances, earnings and receipts shown during this period have no cash value. Vig will announce when real payments go live and will not convert simulated balances into real money.

11. Relationship of the parties

Runners are independent. Nothing on Vig creates an employment, agency, partnership or joint-venture relationship between a Runner and a Poster, or between either of them and Vig. Each person is responsible for their own taxes, licenses, insurance and compliance with local law. This section requires attorney review before launch, including for jurisdiction-specific worker-classification rules.

12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Vig is provided as-is. Vig does not vet Posters or Runners beyond what is shown on their profiles, does not guarantee that any Vig will be taken or completed, and is not responsible for the conduct of any user on or off the platform. To the extent permitted by law, Vig’s liability to you for any claim arising from the platform is limited to the fees you paid to Vig in the twelve months before the claim.

The wording of this section is a placeholder and must be replaced by attorney-reviewed language before launch.

13. Changes to these Terms

Vig may update these Terms. The date at the top of this page changes when we do. For material changes we will notify you in-app before they take effect. Continued use of Vig after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
