This document is a working draft written by the Vig product team. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and must be before Vig launches to the public. Nothing on this page is a legal assurance until that review is complete.
The short version
You can put a price on almost anything. You cannot put a price on hurting people, breaking the law, deceiving others or putting a Runner in danger. If a Vig would make a reasonable person uncomfortable to run, it does not belong on Vig.
These categories apply to the whole Vig: the public description, the instructions and the private details a Runner only sees after approval. Hiding the real ask in private details is itself a violation.
What is not allowed
Violence
violenceAsking anyone to hurt, threaten or physically intimidate a person or animal.
Example: "$300 to rough up the guy who keyed my car."
Harassment
harassmentTargeting a person with unwanted contact, abuse, prank calls or public shaming.
Example: "$20 to prank-call my ex every night this week."
Stalking
stalkingFollowing, tracking, surveilling or locating a private individual without their consent.
Example: "$150 to find out where my former roommate lives now."
Theft
theftStealing, shoplifting, burglary or taking anything that isn't the Poster's to take.
Example: "$50 to grab the package off my neighbor's porch."
Illegal activity
illegal_activityAnything that breaks the law where it would be carried out, including vandalism and black-market purchases.
Example: "$40 to spray-paint the wall behind the school."

Example: "$60 to pick up edibles and drop them at my place."
Weapons

Example: "$10 each for twenty five-star reviews on our Google listing."
Platform manipulation

Example: "$5 per account to create 50 accounts and follow my page."
Dangerous activity
dangerous_activityTrespassing on infrastructure, climbing structures, entering restricted areas, or any stunt likely to injure the Runner or others.
Example: "$250 to climb the crane downtown and get a photo from the top."
Vig staff may also decline any Vig that does not fit a category above but that staff judge unsafe, deceptive or harmful. That decision is recorded under the category other.
How moderation works
Every Vig goes through moderation between funding and going live. The flow is:
- Automated rules. A deterministic ruleset scans the title, description, instructions and private details against patterns for each category above. Unusually high Payoffs are also routed for a human look regardless of content.
- Decision. Clear matches for the most serious categories are rejected outright and the Poster’s funds are returned. Ambiguous matches are flagged: the Vig is held, the Poster is told it is being reviewed, and it does not appear in the feed.
- Human review. A Vig staff reviewer reads the full Vig and the automated findings, then approves it (it goes live) or rejects it (it is removed and funds are returned).
- After publication. Vig staff can pause, cancel or remove a live Vig at any time if new information comes in, including a report from a Runner.
Automated moderation will be strengthened with a model-based classifier over time. The rules layer always runs first, so a Vig never skips the deterministic checks.
Consequences
- A rejected or removed Vig has its unused funds returned to the Poster, including the $2 fee when nothing was completed.
- Posting a prohibited Vig may result in the account being flagged, suspended or banned depending on severity and history. A single serious violation can be a permanent ban.
- A Runner who knowingly completes a prohibited Vig is subject to the same consequences. Report it instead.
- Vig cooperates with law enforcement where required, and retains moderation records for that purpose.
How to report
If you see a Vig that belongs on this list, or a Runner or Poster behaving in a way that does, email report@vig.link (placeholder) with the Vig code (the short code in the link, for example 7K29D) and what you saw. Reports from Runners who were approved for a Vig and then saw problematic private details are especially useful. An in-app report button is planned.
Reporting in good faith will never count against you. False reports intended to remove a competitor’s Vig count as platform manipulation.
